Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. For a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen joined this wonderful refuge in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland. He also owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed the wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. The combination of this passion and her gift for performing was remarkable. It was evident by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. At age fourteen, she was accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
